Okay folks! In the\u2026 week or so since I put the wedding invites in the mail, I\u2019ve been asked multiple times what the meaning is with the verbiage, or if Tucker and I are already married. SO! In order to get ahead of anymore inquiries on the subject, I figured I\u2019d get ahead of it by making a post here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To answer the big question; no we are not married. Not all our guests got the same invite, so let me get me everyone on the same page. We are doing a small, private ceremony the weekend prior to the party. Not everyone got an invitation to it because we wanted to keep it small. It\u2019s a little bit bigger than what Tucker and I had initially wanted, but hey, nothing in life is perfect, and everyone who\u2019s coming to the ceremony has to be there for one reason or another. I\u2019m not complaining; I\u2019m happy about having so many people that I care about who have to be present. I feel lucky on that front, so thank you everyone. <3<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, onto the other question! \u201cWhat does that mean?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jumping over a broom basically means to become a common law husband\/wife. It is an Appalachian tradition that dates back to probably the 1800\u2019s, if not earlier. A couple would jump over a broom in place of exchanging rings with a preacher or Court Official present because either it would be too expensive, or the traveling Court Official wouldn\u2019t be in town anytime soon. Depending on which town you look at, it is still practiced today. Since Tucker\u2019s family line comes from the Appalachians, we all thought it would be fun to include it!
